DECEMBER 2001

The November meeting was a most interesting talk by Mr.Steve Cox of 'SARA', the Severn Area Rescue Association. Formed in the 1970s and run by unpaid volunteers who raise all their own funds, SARA. has three stations along the Severn. There are three different boats for a wide variety of river and cliff rescues.
Their work also takes them to the Black Mountains to rescue climbers in distress.

Mr. Cox talked about the dangers of the estuary tides. The tidal movement is 30 feet, the second highest in the world. It comes in at 20 miles an hour and rises a foot a minute.

A fascinating talk on the demanding and dangerous work carried out by SARA.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday, 11th December, when Norah Burns will be giving a talk on Colour Analysis and Image. All are welcome.

We meet at Llanvaches Church Hall at 7.30p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month.
