NEWSLETTER
JULY and AUGUST 2003

Dear Friends,

Christian sites in Caerwent and our Open Day

Saturday July 12th, 2.30pm onwards
in the Baptist Chapel Schoolroom

Peter Strong will follow up the talk he gave in March with a ramble round the village to point out places of Christian association. Little-known spots where other important discoveries were made will also be covered. We shall combine this with our Open Day - please call in any time between 2:30pm and 5:00pm. The walk round will be preceded by a very short talk, starting at 5:00pm.

European Heritage Days

The last three weekends in September are European Heritage Days and we shall be offering guided visits to the main historic sites.

'Celtic' weekend - 27th-28th September
(arranged jointly by Caerwent Parish Church and the Caerwent Historic Trust)

Over this weekend, the church will host a display of artwork on a Celtic theme by the Welsh artist Jeff Rees. Entrance is FREE.

In addition, there will be a concert at 7.30pm on Saturday 27th in the church featuring the talented harp player Claire Hamilton. She will include Welsh folk songs and the telling of Celtic myths with harp accompaniment.

Tickets will be £5.00, available from Ernlyn Powell (01291-421086), Patsy Lewis (01291-420602), John Nettleship (01291-420745) or from Caerwent Post Office

Please note: Though we take every care with the preparation of our walks and visits, you participate at your own risk. Walk Co-ordinators: Derrick Williams and John Nettleship

Best wishes
