Caerwent Historic Trust

NEWSLETTER
MARCH 2003

Dear Friends,

2000 years of Christianity in Caerwent
Monday 10th March 7.30pm

Caerwent has been a Christian centrefor (nearly) 2000 years. Peter Strong has been studying its progress, from centurions to non-conformists, and will report to us in an illustrated talk on Monday 10th March at 7.30pm. The talk will beat the Parish church, and refreshments will be provided.

Walk to the site of Dinham Castle
Sunday 16th March 2.00pm

We have invited the Shirenewton Local History Society to walk down to Dinham with us. lt's a bit of a muddy scramble in places. We walk on public footpaths down the edge of the golf course and through the woods to the security fence of the RNPF. There isn't much left of the Castle but it's obviously a castle site. Meet in the car park of Shirenewton Recreation Field at 2.00pm. Walking time about one hour.

Don't forget - we take every care with the preparation of our walks and visits, but you participate at your own risk.

Best wishes
