November 2002

Dear Friends,

The Annual General Meeting will be at 8:OOpm on Tuesday 19th November in the Village Hall. If you wish to support our work please come. If you want an agenda in advance contact me (if you are on my members' e-mail list you will be sent one by that means).

We have achieved quite a lot in our first two years including collecting a Library of over 60 published items about Caerwent, improving access to some historic sites, conducting many guided walks and tours and recently producing augmented reprints of certain publications (see below).

Our present Trustees are:
Peter Bonvoisin (Chair) 01291-420721
Mark Lewis (Archivist) 01633-400673
Jennifer Powell (Treasurer) 01291-421086
Derrick Williams (Sites/Walks) 01633-430071
John Nettleship (Secretary) 01291-420745

Finds from Caerwent excavations 1980 - 1995

Very few of these have ever been displayed. There are dozens of brooches, implements etc.
They are just kept in cardboard boxes in the basement of the National Museum in Cardiff.
Richard Brewer has kindly arranged to spend an hour showing them to us on Saturday 30th November - meet in the entrance hall of the Museum at IO.OOam.

It is possible to park in the Museum car park for the same daily rate as the cheap on-street parking nearby.
All welcome but please book with me as soon as possible as there will be a limit on size of the group. Get in touch with me on 01291-420745 or by e-mail john@rose-cottage.freeserve.co.uk
