Caerwent Playing Fields Committee Well here we are in July, already, with the hall committee all trying to get everything organised for the show, especially Jackie who’s Mum passed away in the middle of June. We will all miss Verlie and her great sense of humour. At last we have the planning permission for the car park extension, we just need to see if the work can be completed before show day. Don’t forget all entries for the flower, fruit, vegetable and craft sections etc have to be in the hall before 10 am. Full details later in the magazine. Monmouthshire County Council now want over £2300 to cut the grass on the playing fields next year, on top of the £5000 rent and £500 rates. We need more support now than ever before to keep the hall and playing fields up and running and will be reviewing all our charges in the near future. As stated last month the list of helpers we could call on is a couple of years out of date now. If you feel you would like help out for 2/3 hours occasionally give me a ring or come along to one of our committee meetings on the first Tuesday of the month. We especially need some extra people on show day, and car boots. We are having a TIDY UP DAY on the field Saturday 28th July 11am – 2pm, everyone welcome, if we can get the BBQ to work you can have a burger or two – if not we will be locking Julie and Lesley in the kitchen again to make bacon rolls!!! So PLEASE spare the community and us a little time to make the area look better, all ages welcome. Hopefully we will have a new program of events for the winter ready for the next newsletter in September. As always if there is some kind of entertainment you would like to see in the hall let me know. Remember ALL the profits (if any) go back into the hall and playing fields. May we wish Stewart Stirling and Derrick Williams who start their “awesome trek” across the entire Pyrenees in aid of Cancer Research Wales on the 21st July a safe journey.
