Caerwent Playing Fields Committee

We had to cancel the car boot sale in May as we did not have enough volunteers to cover the event and comply with health and safety regulations. However that didn’t prevent a dozen or so stalwarts continuing anyway!

We used to have a list of helpers we could call on, but this is a couple of years out of date now. If you feel you would like help out for 2/3 hours occasionally give me a ring or come along to one of our committee meetings on the first Tuesday of the month. We especially need some extra people on show day, and car boots.

There is an updated list of events later in the magazine; we are also looking to have a dance and a couple of quiz nights. Keep looking for the dates.

As always if there is some kind of entertainment you would like to see in the hall let me know. Remember ALL the profits (if any) go back into the hall and playing fields.

Reminder - Stewart Stirling (07926 648021) and Derrick Williams (07818 047731), two of our villagers are off on an “Awesome Trek” beginning 21st July in aid of Cancer Research Wales. are walking across the entire Pyrenees from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean – 500 miles in 50 days and 150000 feet of ascent. They are holding their second fund raising function in the hall on 14th July. Give them as much support as you can for this very worthy cause.

A note from Derrick is below regarding their Sound of Music night which Mark Isaac organised for them, and a poster to advertise The Attic Band on the back page.

We hope to see you all in the hall soon.

Trans Pyrenees Expedition 2007

Many thanks to the folks of Llanfair Discoed; they came out in force to the magical “Sound of Music” flowing out of the Woodlands Tavern. Singing away late into the night with Maria and the Von Trapp children, raising £690 for Cancer Research Wales. What an incredible event, how can we ever thank Marc Isaac – friend and local businessman- along with Sue and Keith Gibbs the proprietors, for the organisation and hospitality during the evening. Sue need not have worried and pondered through those sleepless nights, the house was full.
