Hello again!
By the time you read this a number of events will have come and gone so thanks to everyone who turned up to "Moonlighting" and the "Pampered Chef" nights. The Easter Egg Hunt was a real success - it was great to see families joining in the fun, and those Easter Bonnets were brilliant.
Hall access - Last month's deliberate mistake? Officers met the architect on 7 April (not
May). Anyway, things are moving forward and we hope to have further information soon on
funding and anticipated start dates.
Yuk Department. Something less than pleasant - We know we have a problem with dog poo on the playing fields but another hazard has recently come to light - used disposable nappies! Derek reported at the last committee meeting that a number have been found in the bins and, while he was strimming the play area recently, he ran over a rough patch and unearthed a nappy. Wrapping them in nappy sacks or even a couple of plastic bags before depositing them is at least a bit more hygienic. Taking them home with you is even better.
I'm not sure which is worse, dog faeces or human waste. Sorry folks, but really... If anyone
sees people disposing of nappies in this way, please ask them to wrap them up and take
them home. Like I said - Yuk!
And now back to the good stuff.
FORTHCOMING EVENTS
Car Boot Sales - Saturday 14 June, 5 July, 26 July and 27 September, not forgetting
the special Show Car Boot Sale on 30 August. Volunteers are still needed to help out on
the day-Please ring me if you can help.
Jazz on a Summer's Night - Saturday 7 June. Whether you're a jazz fan or not, join us for what promises to be a great evening. I first heard "Round the Horn" play in the garden of the Coach & Horses during the Caerwent Festival and it'll be excellent to hear them again. Tickets are £5 and there's a bar.
The Annual Village Flower and Vegetable Show. Saturday 6 September - Plans are moving ahead for this popular annual event. Many of the regular stall-holders have rebooked and as usual there will be a wide variety of events going on in the arena all day. If anyone is able to offer help for the Show please come along to the next committee meeting (see dates betow).
The Show is a major attraction both locally and to the wider community, but it only works by everyone pulling together. so any support gratefully received.
Come along to these events and support your Village Hall and Playing Field.
Please note: Playing Fields Committee meetings are held on the FIRST WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH, at 7:30pm in the hall
Best wishes,
Liz
