NEWSLETTER
MARCH 2003

What did you think of the new style magazine last month? We've had a mixed reception, but most people seem to think it's an Improvement. We will be making changes to the format as readers mention further improvements over the next couple of months - several people hadn't even noticed the change!

The family quiz night was quite successful, all the people that went enjoyed It, as usual it would have been nice to see more people there. There were around 40+ adults and children (mainly committee members) but another 20-30 would have made all the difference. Still, it was a good night - many thariks to Caroline, quizmaster extraordinaire!

When we asked through the newsletter what type of events people would like us to arrange, we were told that family events would be popular - this has yet to be proven! Please support the events we put on - it beats watching TV!

Our next event iss The Roman Follies on Saturday 15th March at 7.30pm. We will be taking part in the rise and fall of the Roman Empire - all in one evening! Roman Follies is organized by Terry Victor, a professional entertainer, and anyone who has been to his previous events will know that they involve audience participation and non-stop fun and frolics. There will be a quiz and gladiator games, followed by a slave auction (Roman togas may be worn). The ticket price of £15 a head includes a Roman meal. Numbers are limited to 80 and this event will be very popular, so if you would like tickets please contact me on 421307 or David Hedley on 425455 as soon as possible.

Monday 17 March will see the Playing Fields Annual General Meeting at 7.30pm in the Hall. Last year we had a very impressive attendance and would like to see a good turn-out this year. To those people in the community who offered their support in different ways, please come along to the AGM and confirm your continued support Although the number of committee members has increased, there are still times when we need extra help, and it is useful for us to know who we can call on.

If you are thinking of buying chocolates for Mothers Day or chocolate eggs/novelties for Easter, please place your orders now as the Playing Fields com mittee is ordering with 'Chocaholics'. The chocolate is beautiful and a little bit different from the rest. Catalogues are available from the secretary. The Playing Fields gets commission on all orders placed, so please support your village hall and ask for a catalogue now.

Looking ahead... there will be a fun day for children on the playing field when we hold the Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Bonnet Parade on Easter Sunday, 19th April. Entry to the egg hunt will be just 50p per child, with prizes for all. There will be special prizes in three age groups for the Easter bonnets - look out for leaflets giving more information nearer the time.

The first of the our boot sales will be held on SSaturday, 3rd May from 11.30am - so start clearing out those cupboards, and if you find items you would tike to donate to our car boot stall (proceeds to the Playing Fields Association) please contact the secretary.

Please note: Playing Fields Committee meetings are held on the THIRD MONDAY OF EACH MONTH from now on, at 7:30pm in the hall

Yours sincerely,

Hilary Counsell

CPFA Secretary
