The Caerwent Playing Fields Association

NEWSLETTER
FEBRUARY 2003

It feels as if spring is on the way at last - the evenings are getting longer, snowdrops are out and daffodils are up.

Now, back to business...
This month the newsletter is produced in the new format. We hope you like it and think it's a positive development. Thanks to all of you for ensur ing that articles will now be in by the 20th of each month.

We've got plenty planned for the coming months - these are the dates you need to be booking into your diary, hopefully there's something for everyone.
Please make a point of coming along to those events which interest you and show support to the Playing Fields Committee who are working hard to try to involve the whole community. You will also be boosting funds for the Village Hall, and as I said last month, we have a lot of expenditure coming up this year, and if we can help to meet the costs by enjoying ourselves, so much the better!

Sadly, Ray Hannan has informed us that he is no longer able to continue as a committee member, although he will still continue to organise the car boot sales. The committee wishes to thank Ray very sincerely for his support, especially with the organising and running of the Show - it wouldn't have grown to be the success it Is today without all Ray's hard work - many thanks Ray.

The problem of young people skateboarding on the Hall roof has started up again - if you live adjacent to the hall, please be vigilant and report anyone you see on the roof. Both young peo- ple and some parents have been warned against this dangerous game and we will be looking to recoup any costs for damage that is caused.

We still haven't resolved getting the bins emptied on the playing field. The Council doesn't have facilities for doing it, so the Playing Fields Committee will have to find some way of getting the job done - like it or not. Brian has temporarily solved the prob lem by emptying the bins for us.

I did suggest that we kill two birds with one stone and ask peo-ple to throw their bags of dog waste on to the hall roof to keep the kids off it - but that didn't go down well with the rest of the committee!

Please note: Playing Fields Committee meetings are held on the THIRD MONDAY OF EACH MONTH from now on, at 7:30pm in the hall

Yours sincerely,

Hilary Counsell

CPFA Secretary
