FEBRUARY 2001 Just to update you on events at the Community Centre. The youth club and football club continue to be well attended. We are always looking for more helpers, so if you are interested please contact Jackie Williams on 01291 424108. Junior group Ages 7-10 5:30 - 6:30pm Intermediate group Ages 10-14 (school year 9) 6:30 - 8:00pm Senior group Age 14+ (school year 10 and over) 8:00 - 9:30pm We recently had a visit from Emma Newton, the Dragon Sport co-ordinator, and we are keen to take up their offer of assistance with new equipment and coach training, following the launch in April this year. We have been fortunate to have been awarded a grant to help us refurbish one of the community rooms, so work has now started on a new fitness room. Our old snooker table has had its day, so we are hoping to part exchange it for a newly refurbished one, and hopefully this will be with us shortly. NOTE: We have been having problems with the sewage drains that run through the grounds. After calling in someone to investigate further it was discovered that two of the willow trees outside the building were the cause - roots have been found in the drains. We have been advised that we need to remove these trees in order to avoid the problem spreading - this we will action over the next few weeks (before the growing season). We are concerned that should the roots travel further underground they may cause problems to the main sewage network for the surrounding area. Dilys Mather Secretary
