Dear Sinners,

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance:
"Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the Worst."
(Paul to Timothy - I Timothy 1:15)

What makes you read this, I wonder?
  • Is it shock? (Sinner? - what does he mean Sinner!)

  • Is it outrage? (How dare he talk to me like that!)

  • Is it amusement? (He s off again...)

  • Is it curiosity? (Who is he talking about?)

  • Is it habit? (You dutifully read everything in the newsletter!)

  • Is it shame? (That's me- my conscience works overtime!)

  • Is it interest? (Let's hear what he has to say...)

  • Is it pride? (I wonder what he has to say to them...)

What makes me write this - you may wonder?

1. The Bible is truthful
Reading the Bible is like looking into a mirror -what you see is human nature as it really is - not as you might like it to be. The truth is this - all have sinned! We have all broken God's commandments - we are all rebels, we all prefer our own selfish ways.
2. Our situation is hopeless
Not one has the ability to change his/her own heart.
No one can undo the wrongs we have done.
No one is good enough to go to heaven.
No one can do enough to deserve forgiveness.
3. God has acted
Moved and motivated by his own love God sent Jesus Christ, His Son, into our world. He sent him to live a perfect human life. He sent him to die in the place of sinners. He sent him to conquer death and to rise again from the dead in majesty and triumph.
4. We need to believe.
We need to turn from sin and put our trust in Christ. He is alive and able to save everyone who turns to Him. When like Paul we see the greatness of our own sin~ we then discover the true greatness of Christ as Saviour.

With our prayers
