EMMAUS: A CHRISTIAN JOURNEY
Introduction
The four churches fellowship group are starting a programme "Emmaus: a Christian Journey", based on the biblical model of the Emmaus Road found in Luke 24 vl3 - 35. For many people, becoming a Christian is like ajourney. "Emmaus" is a pro- gramme to help people to make that journey. Like Jesus on the Emmaus Road it seeks to accompany people on a way that leads to fullness of life - to heighten spiritual awareness from a Christian perspective.
Outline of the Emmaus Programme
We are running the course for 6 weeks during Lent, with a view to continuing in blocks throughout the coming months. As we draw from the four parishes of Llanfair Discoed, Shirenewton and Newchurch, as well as Caerwent, it is planned to hold some meetings in each of the churches as the programme unfolds. Locations will be announced in advance in the Newsletter.
We are launching with a pancake party on Monday 3rd March, starting from 6.30pm until 9.00pm in Caerwent Village Hall. Admission is free, but we ask you to procure a ticket as this enables us to know how many to cater for! Adults, as well as children, arc very welcome. Both savoury and sweet pancakes will be on the menu. Please bring a bottle if you wish - tea and coffee (and wine glasses) arc provided. During the evening, there will be games, music and a fuller explanation of the forthcoming programme. Tickets arc available from each of the church wardens.
The Emmaus programme meetings will be held on Mondays, and the first full meeting is on 17th March at 7.30pm at Caerwent Parish Church.
You arc warmly invited to join in and have your say! Come and see what it's all about!
