From the Revd. Nansi Davies, Curate. Dear Friends The glories of Easter Day remain with us for forty days until Pentecost and we can continue to sing the joyous Easter hymns with the alleluia's ringing out the Good News that Christ is Risen. He is Risen indeed. But singing the hymns of the Good News is useless unless we can show forth in our lives that the Risen Lord is alive in each one of us. Will friends and neighbours recognise our joy of the Good News in our lives? The churches in our Group were all beautiful for the great Eastertide celebrations and to all those responsible for the cleaning and floral decorations and who gave generously of their time, labour and money a heartfelt thanks. To all those who took part in the services during Holy Week and on Easter Day to you also very many thanks. On Easter Day we welcomed a new member into the church, an occasion that the family and godparents and friends will always remember. In the Early Church new members were admitted on Easter Day into the fellowship. This followed long preparations culminating with the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday evening and baptism in readiness to take part in the first Communion of Easter Day as soon as it was light. Between now and Pentecost, or Whitsuntide, as many know the feast, there will be many occasions for celebration as a group of churches beginning with our Group service at Caerwent on 29th April when our group choir will sing an anthem. Those of you who attended the Good Friday devotional were, I know, profoundly moved by the singing and readings which were led by our choir. Well done choir members all of whom had taken time and trouble to come to practices but will admit to having enjoyed singing together. Many other events are taking place in the parishes, details of which are in this edition. Do your best to support these and wherever possible lend a hand in organising and running them. That's what fellowship is about. Finally all the Easter Vestry meetings have taken place and some new church officers are taking up their responsibilities; our grateful thanks to those who are having a rest after holding office. Please pray for the new officers. Hugh Trenchard sends greetings and hopes to be back with us soon.
With every blessing
