CAERWENT CHURCH SPECIAL NOTICE

To comply with Health and Safety requirements, a survey of the tombstones in Caerwent Churchyard will be carried out to test the stability of the upright tombstones.
Tombstones deemed unsafe will be marked with red and white tape. It will be the responsibility of families who have relatives buried in graves where the upright tombstones have been deemed unsafe to arrange for the stones to be secured.
In due course a further survey will be conducted and unsafe tombstones that have not been secured will be laid flat on the grave site.
Meanwhile, utmost care should be taken by visitors to the churchyard, and particular care should be taken to prevent children from playing in the area. Enquiries about this notice should be addressed to the Church Wardens.
