Caerwent Community Council.
This month we seem to be getting a little closer to progress with Merton Green. There could be up to 150 homes built there depending on the detailed Planning application that comes in from the eventual developer. Accordingly MCC are giving consideration to the A48 as it will clearly carry additional traffic and there will be more people trying to cross it. They are going out to consultation on a 30 mph limit but is that enough? What about proper crossings, a foot bridge possibly. All of the various options will be looked at but what do you think? Why not let us know by writing to the Clerk to the Council. Part of that area holds the Old Gym and more work is under way on trying to preserve that facility. MCC are to carry out a condition survey and consult with interested parties on social provision in the Caerwent area. When more information becomes available we will let you know. It is to be hoped that permission to extend car parking at the Village Hall in Caerwent will soon be granted and funds put in place. This will help considerably with problems in Highfield when events are held. Llanfair Discoed is to get some new play equipment. Funds have been obtained to provide it and the order has been placed with MCC. Lets hope that the children of the area get a great deal of pleasure out of it. This Council has now decided to go ahead with a full scale Community Questionnaire. We will shortly design the format and set the questions. Should anyone like the survey to include a matter that they would like to know the public view on please let us know so that we can include it. We will deliver and pick up the survey when the time comes and then have a Public meeting to give out the results. These will also be published. The results will be analysed and used by MCC in planning for facilities, road projects, Community projects etc. There has been some concern in Crick of late about possible development at Bradbury farm. It should be noted that there is only an outline proposal at present which may not come off at all or possibly in a reduced form. If it gets to the stage of more detailed consideration we will let residents of the area know. How are you getting on with the No.73 bus and how is the service to Rogiet school. How are you getting on with the Grassroutes bus? We need feed back if any problems are persisting please.
