We hope you all had a good Christmas and that we can all look forward to 2006 with confidence.

There are some projects that we hope to progress in the year which will be important to the community.  The first is to prevent the MoD from selling off the Old Gym which is currently used by the Youth Club and several other organisations.  If they do sell it then we must make sure it is to us.  As mentioned in previous Newsletters the planning gain from the Merton Green development should help us there.

The other major project is the Heritage Centre at the old Caerwent School.  We are instructing Consultants at present to help us progress that project and will keep everyone informed at the appropriate times. 

By the time this piece goes out, the lane from Five Lanes to St Brides should be in the process of being re-built and the section of road above Llanfair Discoed near the reservoir that was “missed” previously should be re-surfaced.

There are other road projects which we are keeping an eye on and will try to ensure that they are dealt with during 2006 where possible.

Chepstow and District Lions Club are promoting a “Message in a Bottle” scheme where you place details of your condition and treatment in a container and put a sticker on the fridge or cupboard to alert emergency services to it.  If you would like to know more about this scheme your surgery or local Police can help.

It is hoped that when the Bradbury Farm project goes ahead in Crick that provision can be made for a play area for the benefit of the Community as a whole.  If anyone in the Crick area has any ideas on a suitable site for such a facility please let us have your thoughts.
