Caerwent Community Council

Chairman's Report
FEBRUARY 2003

AT LAST, at least we hope, by the time the newsletter is published the roadworks should have started, and indeed be near completion, at Well Lane in Llanfair Discoed.

The storm water run-offs and the collapsed kerb on the Five Lanes in Llanfair will also have been dealt with.

Next step is the main road to Llanfair and the lane up to Gray Hill.

All funding is in place and so, to everyone's relief, the years of waiting will seem to be over.

Caerwent will soon have its new proposals when the Gwent Consultancy study is completed and at that time we will be able to see what can be done to relieve the speed problems there. Crick is soon to benefit from the slower traffic when the 50 mph restriction is in place. What's next? Let us know. Do you have a pet hate on your local highway?

There is still a problem over the disabled access behind Maybury in Caerwent. A fresh approach has been suggested and will be pursued. More as this develops.

As soon as the weather is kinder, all public benches will be repaired and maintained. Please look after them and take litter home.

There is little more of note to report this month. Most of the representation on your behalf that we have made seems to be progressing satisfactorily or is the subject of research that might take some time.

So what other points do you want us to deal with? We have already in this letter asked for comments on roads. What else is there? Let us know.

If anyone wants to e-mail the Council on any matter the address is CaerwentCouncil@aol.com.
