The main problems in the area this month revolve around crime and speed. For those who live in homes allocated by Gwerin Housing Association, there is a new Housing Officer, Kerry Goodenough and a new Community Development Officer, Miranda Thomason. They aim to be much more in evidence and are keen to be made aware of any problems. There is, hopefully, soon to be a mobile warden for some sites. The Community Council has forged stronger links with Gwerin so if you feel we should get involved to follow up a problem you have, let us know. Some people have wondered why the extra white lining has been put down between Caerwent and Crick. The problem was that motorists were being drawn to the original line, which marks the cycle path, believing it to be the edge of the road. The new lines should make the cycle path much safer both for cyclists and pedestrians. The Bus stops are progressing, with unfortunate damage to other property in some cases. However remedial action has been promised and we will keep an eye on it. Are you adversely effected? Let us know if you are. Many of the shelters are to be replaced over a period with glass ones, which are considered to be safer. However we still await clarification in respect of the stop near the war memorial in Caerwent. Queries have been raised regarding a play area now that eleven houses have been built on the Crick Road site. Normally when in excess of ten homes built, an area has to be provided. However Plot Eleven is in fact a replacement for a dwelling and therefore the play area will not be provided. There is still no progress regarding the sewage that gets on the road at St, Bride's during wet periods. We will keep the pressure on for remedial action. If anyone wants to e-mail the Council on any matter the address is CaerwentCouncil@aol.com.
