Sunday’s match v Sedbury.
Well possibly the longest match the Coach has played in this season and this is how it went.. sort of!
First up was Gary Mcnamara and Stuart Gardner – The boys had to use their experience and play sensible pool to get us off to a good start. Took their time and won the game to get us off to a good start. 1-0 UP
Next up was myself (James Robertson) and Jamie ‘Daddy Cool’ Robertson – We both played fairly well, with Jamie taking a great pot up the top on our colour. We made a couple of small errors to put our opponents in with a chance to win but we got lucky as they potted the black and white together. 2-0 UP
The last doubles game of the night was Steven Robertson and Ali Issac – The boys didn’t do an awful lot wrong. Stevo rushed a shot out of a snooker to give Sedbury 2 shots which they duly took to wrap up the frame. Unlucky boys. 2-1 UP
First on the singles was Steve Brandon – Steve played a really good game, always in control and potted well. Kept his composure to finish the game comfortably. Well done Steve. 3-1 UP
Next up was Rob Trigg – A very tactical game against a good player, the first attempt ended in a stalemate so a re-rack was made. Triggy is no mug to the tactical game but probably got bored after what seemed an epic game! Just lost out. 3-2 UP
Then we had Captain Chris – Chris took the unusual step of putting someone else in last and played the 6th game. Can’t recall a great deal from this game (sorry Chris!) but he won which is good enough for me! 4-2 UP
And finally, Lee Davies – Another good show from Lee, outwitting his opponent and finishing very well on the black with a difficult shot to give the Coach a good win. 5-2 UP
Well after slipping up in previous weeks a 5-2 win was just what we needed to stay on course for top spot. We were level on points at the top before tonight’s game, so with 3 games to go we need some more big victories!
May I say a big thank you on behalf of the team for the support we get every week.
No game this Sunday as it is Easter week, so the next game will be on 30th March at home to Portskewett. Come on the Coach!
